The Ten Tenets of Rootist Art

Faith

Rootist Art is a belief structure. Above all you must believe in yourself. Rootist Artists and Rootist Viewers know they have the ability to make a difference. Even if it is unclear how this is possible, we never relinquish the belief that we can affect other people and change the world around us.

Honesty

Rootist Art is not defined by theories or concepts. It is defined by our actions. The greatest feat a Rootist Artist can accomplish is to create a piece of art with complete honesty. If you are honest, then you will know you have given a piece of yourself to the art and it will be forever contained within it. You will know you have given the world a gift. The greatest feat a Rootist Viewer can accomplish is to take that gift. Be brave and vulnerable and experience that piece of art someone has made for you. Capture that piece of the artist from the artwork and it will change you. You will gain a little more understanding of yourself and the world. Embrace the feelings given to you by art, and make them part of yourself. This is the Rootist Cycle. The more it is completed, the more we have the ability to change the world.

Freedom

Rootist Art is already inside of you. Rootism asks nothing from you but to trust yourself and your fellow people. You do not have to understand anything academic. Rootist Artists know there are no conceptual or aesthetic stipulations to making art, simply be honest. We make art that we feel and believe in. We are courageous enough to conquer the fear of not knowing what great art looks like. Rootist Viewers do not compare themselves to others. They can feel and understand art, and they trust their ability to do it. Embrace art, let it affect you and then claim those feelings for yourself. Rootist Art does not cost anything and can be experienced by every single person on this planet.

Respect

Rootist Art is the reawakening of an ability that exists within all of us. This is the ability to communicate, to teach, and to understand each other through art. Regardless of your education, race, religious beliefs, wealth, or upbringing you have the power to do this. It is part of all of us and is one of the things that makes us human. Rootists believe in their ability to accomplish this. Rootists believe in other people's ability to accomplish this. It is only when we respect each other that we may begin to truly communicate.

Bravery

Rootist Art is a process that must be felt. Both Rootist Artists and Rootist Viewers are courageous enough to be affected by art. The goal is to communicate with each other, but that cannot be fully realized without the acceptance that you will be affected. You will feel fear, sadness, triumph, love, loss, hate and compassion. Rootists are brave enough to share these things and make them a part of ourselves. The moment you decide to open yourself to the world and her people, that is the moment you will understand Rootist Art.

Vision

Rootist Art is a new perspective. Art is not an idea you have to conceptually grasp. It is not a theory that must be explained to you. Art is a unique human tool we all possess that allows us to communicate with each other. The things we communicate are not ideas or theories. We communicate ourselves, our existence, and our feelings. Art is the vessel that allows us to feel and relate to the Human Condition.

Humility

Rootist Art is bigger than any one person. It cannot exist individually; Rootist Art demands that we embrace it together. You must know that I need you and you need me. The Artists and Viewers are equally important. That equality is the only way the Movement can flourish. The Rootist Artist knows that he or she is part of a larger entity. The Artist knows his or her work is for the people, for a cause, and that it serves a real purpose. The Rootist Viewer also knows he or she is part of something greater. Rootist Viewers believe their roles are crucial and as important as the Artists. Seek out art and allow yourself to be affected by it. If you do this you will be changed by the art and will reenter the world with a better understanding of yourself and the people around you. Rootists believe that the beginnings of real change are born from art.

Persistence

Rootist Art takes patience. Once you know that art contains meaning for you, you must also understand that experiencing art will not be the same for everyone. A Rootist Viewer is willing to search for the communication in art. Viewers know that one person cannot feel everything from every piece of art. The communication between art and the Rootist Viewer will be different for everyone. Rootist Artists believe in making art that speaks to everyone, but not everyone will necessarily feel it. Rootist Viewers know not every piece of art will speak to them, but if they continue to search for art that does, then they will be rewarded.

Purpose

Rootist Art is a catalyst for change. The more Rootist Artists there are the more this world will be filled with artwork that was made to communicate. The more Rootist Viewers there are the more this world will be filled with people seeking out art that communicates. The more the world fills with Rootists, the more we will communicate, the more we will learn about each other, the more we will love each other, and in the end, the more we will help each other.

Strength

Rootist Art is powerful. Its power only strengthens with the number of people who believe in it. Rootist Artists follow this path because they believe in their responsibility to release art into this world that is truly trying to speak and communicate with people. Rootist Viewers follow this path because they know they are a necessary and crucial element to this Movement, and the world needs people who seek to understand, learn, and embrace our existence. This is the true foundation for change. If we strive to learn about ourselves and our world then we will be rewarded with an understanding and feeling that we are all connected as people. There is a powerful bond that exists within all of us. If we embrace this then the possibilities for tolerance, compassion, and change are limitless.
